About 5 years ago, at a beach party, there was this piece of plastic sticking up through the sand and someone pulled at it, up it can with this giant maggot attached, just about slightly smaller than my little finger, and it had a face!! Two little beady eyes and a black mouth in a little smile, real evil lookin little bugger, gross! So one of the lads has him balanced on the end of a stick, puts him over the fire and the little fucker starts squealing!
I panicked, bolted and ran, trying to find my way back to the house, pitch black, no street lights on an island off Donegal, got lost and ended up in the fuckin graveyard, had a total panic attack, (I was mad stoned and paro), the rest of them came home about four hours later to find me under the kitchen table wrapped in a duvet shaking.
Fuckin maggot!

sounds like a caterpillar to me (albeit a bald one)

It had no legs, and caterpillars wouldn't survive buried in the sand.
