He made them sign a contract before a gig in '92 when they were doin the Use you Illusion tour, he said unless they signed it he wouldn't go on stage, this was the show directly after the riot outside the Gn'R/Metallica show that caused chaos, so fearing the same they all signed it, Hence Axl's ability to keep flogging the dead horse and draw blood. It amazes me that people still want to pay to see him considering that.
