My family and I are Dublin ex-pats, couple of years out now. Living in London surrounded by bleedin' english ppl
... lol. Anyway, I've recently gotten heavily into a 'game' called second life, check it out if ya fancy... www.secondlife.com . Its basically an open source MMORPG (i.e. lots of ppl online @ once playing in a world created by the players). Between myself and my old man we've been constructing a simulated Dublin, which has become pretty popular with the yanks, and also cures my homesickness. I felt a virtual Dublin would be nothing without, a virtual fibbers! Rock DJs, live bands, and all. 'Cept finding a reasonable collection of photos for the texture mapping, and conceptual design has proven to be a pain in the arse. Only so much I can do from memory (not managed to get home for well over 4 years). Basically, please e-mail me any pictures of the bar, inside or out, that ya have. Neil.Mahon@NTLworld.com. Also, if ya wanna get involved in the project @ all let me know. Second life is now huge in the states, and I'm currently working on sponsorship from the Irish Tourism Board, and Guinness to get Virtual Dublin up to scratch, with plans to expand for V-Cork, V-Galway. and V-Belfast. (Yes I have too much spare time).
Also, for all you rock fans, check out www.myspace.com/bombla - this is my band, I'd love to play Fibbers @ some point. Like returning to the birthplace or something.
